Pick a spot... and pitch up!

The camping fields are lined by magnificent oak trees and the fields are mostly flat, making pitching up easy. You can choose your own spot and needn't worry about keeping to a set pitch size because there are acres of room!

From the field you can enjoy the sunrise through the mist, bask in the glorious afternoon sun and enjoy the abundance of roe deer grazing in surrounding fields during the evening sunset. If you're lucky you may catch a glimpse of a passing kestrel, hare and even a barn owl at dusk. Alongside the wildlife, the farm's sheep and pigs can be seen from the camping field. You can't miss the night skies either, with minimal light pollution Snelling Farm is the perfect place to look out for shooting stars!

Snelling Farm is a truly magnificent setting.

The Farm Shop

We have a small on-site shop selling BBQ meats and locally sourced provisions. This also doubles as our reception and is open for a short time in the morning (8.30-9.30am) and in the evening. Please check the times on the door for daily variations due to farm work and family life.

So that you can plan ahead here is a list of what our shop stocks:

  • Lamb burgers & koftas (produced from our own grass fed lambs)
  • Sausages (produced from our outdoor reared pigs)
  • Milk, eggs & cheese (delivered fresh from a local dairy where the cows graze overlooking Weymouth bay)
  • Purbeck Ice Cream
  • Apple Juice from The Purbeck Cider Company and other drinks from The Dorset Ginger Co.
  • Marshmallows (v.v. important!)
  • A range of locally made honey, jams, sauces and condiments

Fresh meat is available on a Friday & Saturday evening, for the rest of the week it is sold frozen to help reduce food waste. It's a great idea to buy it in the morning and it will help keep your cool box cold as it defrosts!

From the farm...

There is so much to do without getting in your car.

The farm is set in an enviable position on the Lawrence of Arabia Trail which offers over 6 miles of cycling and walking through Moreton & Bovington Forest, suitable for a families and children. Keen cyclists and walkers can head into neighbouring Affpuddle Forest for a longer excursion.

Moreton Ford is a 10 minute walk. Unique for its' width and shallowness, the ford is perfect for a picnic by the shore, paddling, swimming and maybe even catching a small fish!

The Dovecot Cafe just beyond the ford offers breakfast from 10am and should a glorious Dorset cream tea call, it is open until 4pm.

Famous the world over, the church of St Nicholas in the village is well worth a visit. The Laurence Whistler engraved windows are enchanting and famous the world over and T.E Lawrence (of Arabia) was laid to rest here. From Snelling Farm it is possible to walk or cycle to his house, Clouds Hill in Bovington, which is now maintained by the National Trust.
