The Bovington Tank Museum (3 miles), host to the world famous Tankfest event, and Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre (5 miles) are favourites with children and grown ups alike.
Nearby Warmwell Leisure Centre (6 miles) offers an indoor swimming pool with wave machine and flume, a dry ski slope and indoor soft play area.
The farm is perfectly situated on the edge of the Isle of Purbeck, easily accessible to Lulworth Castle (10 miles), the home of Camp Bestival, and nearby picturesque Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Historic Corfe Castle (12 miles) is a must along with a ride on the steam train to Swanage for a dip in the bay. The long sandy beach of Studland (17 miles) is highly recommended and is a good source of sea shells! If you are after fossils and crabs then head to Kimmeridge.
In the other direction head to Weymouth beach (13 miles) or 'Hardy's' country and the pretty county town of Dorchester (7 miles), great for shopping or a historical day out. Well worth a visit is Thomas Hardy's Cottage where he wrote several novels including 'Under the Greenwood Tree' and 'Far from the Madding Crowd'. For magnificent stately homes head to Kingston Lacey (17 miles) in Wimborne and explore the 8,500 acres. Athlehampton House (7 miles), built circa 1485, is a little closer and showcases beautifully manicured gardens.
Should you need supplies the there is a Co-Op Store (open 6am - 10pm) 3 miles away in the village of Crossways. Both Sam and Cristabel grew up in the Isle of Purbeck so should you want any advice about where to go or good local pubs for eating and drinking then just ask!
